News

Great turnout on opening day.... we had 20 guys and the Realistic and Open class was pretty evenly divided... We ran into time restraints and was only able to get off two rounds today... But that's racing folks...

Made a few minor Tweaks to the rules to keep things running a little smoother when we run with standard club racing events...

Race 1 of 8 is will be this Saturday at West Australian Coast Grand Prix...

Already people are having troubles setting up there cars... The abrasive high bite surface over a 10 minute period is playing havoc on the foam tires... The sauce isn't lasting and it's creating inconsistent grip as it wears...

Some are even talking about using rubber in hopes that the slower but more consistent lap times will pay off in the last few minutes...

Or is this all just head games for the other racers ?

So the top 10 prizes have been mostly handed out and a few in the mail... It was a 30 page, hard cover book highlighting the series in images and some text...

I'm glad to hear people liked it, because were going to do it again for the summer series, and the next one will be even better... I hope :)

Who is going to be the next UF1 Champion ?

What a great finale today... Both Lee and Jonathan were on their game ... Lee wins the first race and tied with Jonathan... Lee then won the 2nd race which gave him a 2 point advantage... Jonatahn then needed a win in the 3rd race to tie but finished just .775 of a second behind Lee...

That is friggin close... I loved watching and keeping track of all the battles, front , middle or back of the field, didn't matter... I hope you guys enjoyed it as much as I did :)

Congratulations Lee for being the 2011 Winter UF1 Champion....

Great racing today.... as usual... The battle between Jonathan and Lee is becoming EPIC :) They were tied after today, but when you take into account the dropped score... Jonathan is going into the final race with a 2 point, or one position advantage...

Robert dropped two positions, Panda stayed in 4th... I gained two positions... Cuda moved past Alex N, who still believe it or not might end up in the top 10 with only 3 races completed :) and Doug and Alex M are still up in the air as to who will take that final spot...

Race 6 is in the books and the battle for Champion is down to 1 point...

There is also a 3 way battle for 3rd place between Robert, Panda and myself... But Robert does have a comfortable 12 point buffer...Cuda and William are only 2 points apart... Both Alex M and Doug are tied sitting right outside the 10th spot... It's looking like Dave Berger will drop 10th place next round... or will he :) This leaves one space in the top 10... Alex N. has collected so many points that there is a chance he will remain in the top 10... This means a big battle between Doug and Alex M. for that final spot.......

Race 5 complete... We have a serious battle between Jonathan and Lee for the overall win... With 3 races to go, it's going to be really close...

Alex M squeaked into the A main and pulled himself up to 11th place overall... Get into the top 10 Alex :)

Mark G is on my ass only 2 points behind...Oh the pressure.... Robert I is looking comfortable in 3rd but Panda is catching up... Panda can generally produce the fastest lap time, but having missed 2 races is going to hurt... I think Doug just might get into the top 10 with some luck ??? and luck I mean Dave B and Cuda staying at home :)

Who will be the 2011 UF1 Champion ? Can Cuda take it two years in a row ? A few new changes to the rules this year that should make things more exciting and fair...

It's no longer a battle between foam vs Rubber like last year... It's now a battle between Realistic scale racing vs pure performance ...

This year you will also be able to race both classes, but you will only be scored in one...

A fun day of racing... Lower turn out then usual ( 11 ) but still great battles.. My highlight was a battle with Robert that ended with me attempting a pass with one lap to go that drove us both into the wall... my bad ... opps... :)

Cuda struggling with his 104 took a hard crash in his Ferrari and ripped a front wing off...

Lee has found his speed today moving himself into 1st place overall.

In the top drivers , Alex Nevarret has pulled himself within 3 points of 1st place, with Jonathan sandwiched in 2nd place...

Another good turn out... with an A and B Main, 15 people... Grip today was crazy and lots of people were dealing with traction rolling...

Our podium today all scored 41 points and maintained the top 3 position as last week...Mark Goldwater and Panda are tied for 10th place... you want to fight to stay in the top 10...

Thanks everyone who bought a shirt...

Jonathan is fast and consistent, Lee is consistent but is still working on his speed and Alex always has a smile on his face like he knows something :)

"It was the other drivers fault..."

If it was anybodies fault it was mine for being where I can get collected...
Getting angry at another driver is pointless...

You need to watch the other drivers around you, understand there skill,
aggression and driving levels, and drive with them accordingly...

Know who is driving next to you.... Any problems that occur have ultimately been caused by you because you are responsible for where you are and what you are doing there....

Our first race went off pretty good... 16 drivers, so there was good points to be had...

The level of driving has certainly gone up... The 8 guys that made the A main are within .318 of a second...

Now thats pretty damn cool :) and all 16 people today qualified within 1.791 of a second ...

When you break it down to these numbers you can easily see this is a game of consistency...

November 6th will be the first race of the Winter Series at TQ... Doors open at 10AM, Qualifying will be at 1PM ...

The top 10 racers from this series will receive a pretty cool gift... You will want to be in the top 10... trust me :)

8 day series spread over 4 months. 24 races total...

Check out the "RULES" for more details...

Michael Rydwell redesigned the logo and man it looks so cool... Thank you so much dude...

Mike is also working on having some shirts made up with the new logo...

It's costing $5 per shirt, sell them for $15 and 100% of the money will go towards a gift for the top 10 drivers of the Winter Series...

Trust me, you will want to be in the top 10, I'm not going to give away any hints but it's pretty cool...

No it's not 10 RTR F1's :)

Thank you Sean Williams for this easy to follow chart... long overdue...

Click on image to the left to see full chart....

Congratulations Alex Navarette for not only winning all three races, scoring maximum points for the day.... he also was voted twice as the cleanest driver... and then won the grand prize... You can not do any better then that... Also congratulation Bill for the Ferrari kit....

And finally Congratulations to Cuda for winning the overall series... You are the 2010 UF1 Champion dude !

I came in 2nd and Mark Goldwater finished off 3rd place...

I had a blast... hope you all enjoyed...

Great turn out at CAL Raceways on our 12th race of the series... 19 racers... That ties our maximum turnout at TQ... It was really nice having 2 FULL heats... 10 rubber cars and 9 foam cars...

Get ready for the final race at Camarillo Saturday September 25th track will be open for practice at 7AM... qualifying will begin around 10:00 AM...

And dont forget , we WILL be VERY strict on clean driving... Lets try to get at least 20 racers and beat our record

Congratulations Cuda for kicking some ass at TCS...

Congratulations to Mark G for 2nd consecutive TCS Concourse win... Pic of the winning car on the left... click on image to see high res version...

This Saturday September 11th will be a UF1 race at CAL... track will be open for practice at 9AM and racing starts at noon...

September 25th will be the final race at Camarillo...

Thanks everyone who turned up at TQ...

I want to apologize for conflicting schedules with Camarillo ... I was trying to not interfere with TCS as well as not schedule our races too close together and I screwed up...

We have two races left !!!

CAL will be September 11th

Dont forget September 25th at Camarillo ... you can collect a

maximum 151 points that day alone !

2nd annual Ultimate F1 Series Day will be at Camarillo Sept. 25th...

Last year we had over 30 drivers attend the Tamiya track... So far we have had 38 drivers attend this series and if we can get everyone to come for one day plus I know there are over 10 more in the Camarillo area we could be looking at close to 50 !

Reality is we wont, but there could be if we all just do it...

We are going to have a evening race at CAL on August 7th... This will be VERY cool :) Thank you Mike for the idea...

We had 14 racers at TQ... And only 3 rubber ... Calvin tried rubber but wasn't man enough to control the power to traction ratio ...lol ... Cuda started on foam but then switched to Rubber for points... The foam battle was fierce with Alex and Duy joining in... Calvin was keeping pace with Dave, but could not pull out a win... Dave was dominant as always... Dave TQ, won the race and also had fast lap for the day of 11.195

We are going to have a evening race at CAL on August 7th... This will be VERY cool :) Thank you Mike for the idea...

Our first race at CAL was a light turn out... we had 5 rubber and 5 foam cars... Incredible battles with Calvin , Cuda and Mike... Calvin was so dialed he even stopped a couple times to let Cuda and Mike pass... He has officially placed a target on his back :)

Hiro scored Maximum points in rubber with his HPI F10, even with his car coming to a crawl in the first round due to a uncharged battery...

And Mark beat me with a set of Tamiya tires after all my bla, bla, bla about how great the Shimizus are :)

10 drivers at Surf City... 6 foam and 4 rubber... fastest lap of the race was Mike Rydwell with a 11.5 and now sits in 12th overall ... one good UF1 race and Mike could move into the top 3...

All the point standing from here on out will be adjusted for dropped races...

Our next UF1 race will be at CAL Raceway this coming Saturday and now that all 5 dropped races are taken into account, the standings are really going to shift around...

103 & 104 Rubber tires Reviews

Slightly rushed program today... doors opened at 10:00 , racing started at 11:00... we almost lost a driver because no time to practice... another showed up around 11:00 and missed sign ups... At least we had Jeremy :)

Only 2 rubber cars today... had a 3rd rubber car signed up and just completed 8 laps in each round, they would have collected 33 points...

Next race will be back at Surf City on July 4th...

Our TQ race had the largest turnout to date... 19 drivers, two FULL heats... Everyone I talked to loved the carpet, so we will for sure be back...

Calvin Simmon reminds me every weekend how much he loves this format... and he had some great ideas for the future... lol ...

Interesting fact... the top 4 in our series all used rubber at TQ... hummmmmm :)

Next race will be back June 20th at WCRC... Jeremy please be there...

Turn out was low for the 4th race at Camarillo, only 9 of us and 6 were locals... You guys have NO idea what your missing... It is well worth the drive... we will definitely come back again and the final race in late September will be at Camarillo...

Next month will be two UF1 format days... You could collect a possible 92 points just in June... It's anybodies game at this point, and every point counts...And don't forget the 2 lowest UF1 days get dropped and 3 Supplemental races get dropped...

June 5th at TQ @ June 20th at WCRC

Thanks Jeremy for being a great announcer... You have a natural ability of being aware of what's happening on the track at all times, and understanding the format perfectly... You truly make our racing experience exciting...

So next month we are moving our UF1 race from WCRC to Camarillo because of conflict with TCS... The Roadrunners graciously are opening there track Saturday May 8th just for F1... How cool is that ? We will run our normal UF1 format... might be a drive for some of you... but well worth it :)

Do I run foam or rubber in this Series ? As this Series progresses it's taking on a life of it's own that Tim or I could not have predicted... We are all learning along the way... and one thing I've noticed is that since we are scoring the foam and rubber separately what has emerged is a singular points battle... It's no longer Foam vs Rubber, but a strategy of which compound to use each race day...

First round of the Series went off pretty well... We had equal amounts of foam and rubber cars... we will score them separately and not have the rubber handicap points... check out the new rule change....

Congratulations Dave Berger for setting the fast lap of 10.161

Sucks I accidentally formated the CF card with all the images from that day... my bad :(

Next race April 18th at WCRC , followed by Surf City May 2nd...

Tim Ruwe working diligently at the track keeping score of our February 21st WCRC race... Without Tim this series wouldn’t be happening... He is selfishly giving his time and effort talking to track organizers and created our scoring format... Tim and I were e-mailing each other for weeks bouncing ideas back and forth about this series... It’s a great group of people all with a love of RC and F1 of course... On-road RC is going through a slump ( from what I’ve been told since I’ve only been in this hobby 3 years :) and us F1 guys are even a smaller niche... lets keep this alive...

I have no idea what I'm doing with these web sites... I'm amazed I can get anything to work let alone up :) I just want a place to view our results... so if you want to see results for Jan, Feb or March at WCRC, you can click on the image to the left and find results...

The 6 point handicap for running rubber is so we can run all the cars together and score them together... We came up with 6 points from calculating the results of the January, February and March races at WCRC UF1... we basically took the top foam driver and top rubber driver and calculated the average point spread... it actually came out to 6.6 points and if you were to remove Matt Bells incredible drive back in January the points spread should be closer to 7 points...
