This car was painted by Mark, he painted up two identical bodies so we could run as a team... I just finished placing the stickers on and he will duplicate the same layout
on his car... I added the mirrors and also painted him up a set... we will use his body and chassis for the 3 hour enduro March 6th... The way things look now, we might be the only
team ???? how sad... not much chatter in the forum at all...

Another project I have been working on the past couple months actually started a year ago... I was browsing on E-bay looking for bodies... I came across
a porsche 911 I loved... it was from the 30th anniversary Tamiya kit that costs $700... The body was around $100... I bought it... only to realize that it has a much shorter
wheel base then my sedan chassis...

It came to me that I could take a F103GT chassis and shorten the wheel base to fit this body... so I ordered an extra F103GT chassis and then soon found yet another body
just to have as a back up :) why have one when you can have two, right ? It's the RC way...
The wheel base need to be shortened by exactly 1 inch... I cut down the rear part of the front plate using an extra chassis plate as a template... and then used a drimil
to finish the edges off cleanly... I then marked off the new holes and had Mark cut them out, he had the tools and it turned out perfect... Then I had to modify the top
deck by just cutting away the front portion that attached to the servo holder... I then made two identical 2-mm carbon pieces about 10-mm wide and 50-mm long
that I used to reposition the rear body mounts farther back... I attached it to the front part of the chassis... I made the stupid mistake one time to attach the rear body mounts
the the rear part of the chassis and the body became part of the suspension... took me the longest time to figure out why the car was handling like shit :)

So I received my One cell saddle pack lipo yesterday for my 12th scale project...
I bought Tom Watana's 15 year old Associated rolling chassis for $20... Sounded like a great deal, until I realized I needed to buy a battery $70
then need a mini Servo, $30, a power booster for about $20, a body for $30, a few tires to get started $100, I have a small Hara brushed ESC
sitting in my drawer and I can get free motors from Doug, 19 turn is what people are telling me I need... I also got a Sticker sheet for the Porsche 962 body
from Dave Berger... should look really nice when done... which is looking like another month away on that project...

Also I've turned my 2nd Cyclone TC into TRU SPEC ready for Charlie Barns new series... This has potential to be a great class... slower motor, control ESC,
control tires and wheels... realistic bodies... all up my alley :) I water dipped the motor last night to a 3200 orion battery in cold water... Every 10 seconds
I would replace the darkening water and repeated 6 times total... blew out the motor and oiled it... I also did a clean wiring job and shortened all the wires to
the maximum...

Worked on installing lights in Marks car... instead of creating a mount from the bumper I made a lexan mount that zip ties to
the front mount posts, sprayed it black, and shoe gooed the lights from the back... zip ties down all the loose wires... Better
job then my car... guess you learn the more times you do it....

Marks car is on the right... easiest way to identify them is my windows are tinted black... There going to look great racing together... sweeeeeet !

I also mounted up the wheels on the Porsche 103GT project... 0 degree offset up front and 6 degrees in the back... I just went ahead and mounted Sorex 36
all around... it would be stupid for me to choose tires just for WCRC and not be able to run the car any other track... waiting on White paint for the rear wing...

Also waiting for paint for the TruSpec car... I'm thinking black and white with red accent will look nice... hopefully paint will be here Thursday so I can
finish up both those bodies Friday... gets some pics taken....

This is the paint scheme I had Duy duplicate for me... He said no problem, but once he started he did not want to do it... it took a while :)

Wednesday February 24th 2010

Worked on duplicating the 12th scale decal sheet... the problem comes from the fact that no printer can print white... what the hell is up with that ?
So I decided to make two decal sheets , one with a white background, and one with a transparent background... There are enough stickers for three cars...
Me , Dave and Tom...

I also included decals for the TRU Spec class... The car wont be truly accurate, but damn close enough... should look really nice...
Paints arrived in the mail today so I started painting the rear tail for the Porsche 911 GT... Friday when I pick up the decals I will paint
the TRU Spec body....

Thursday March 4th 2010

Finished the Porsche 103GT project... took some pics yesterday, now the car is ready to hit the track... Looks like Hunington Beach this
Saterday might be first track time... Hope it doesnt rain....
Chassis is F103GT shortened 1" , with Sorex 36 tires all around, with hard thin inserts, O degree offset up front and 6 degree offset in the rear...
17.5 motor with a Orion 3800 battery... AI ESC...
